What To Do After Flooding
- Remove excess water by mopping
and blotting. - Wipe excess water from wood furniture after removal of lamps and tabletop items.
- Remove wet upholstery or carpets as necessary, using aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs/carpet (only when open windows will not suffice).
- Turn air conditioning on for maximum drying during summer months.
- Gather loose items from floors; remove art objects to a dry place.
- Gather colored rugs & hang furs/leather goods if possible—but don’t leave them there where they’ll become soiled again with new moisture droplets forming over time once removed from carpeting surfaces)
What NOT To Do After A Flood
Don’t leave wet fabrics in place-hang coloured articles instead),
Don’t use your household vacuum cleaner to suck out standing pools of fluid (this disperses contaminants into his clean areas).
Don’t use television or other household appliances.
Don’t turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet, and keep out of rooms where ceilings are sagging.
